What many individuals don't know is that this rule applies to water as well. Generally, cats do not drink enough water and this can lead to different health problems, but these problems can be prevented simply by observing the likes and dislikes of a cat with regards to water preferences. To lure a cat to drink more water takes some trial and error, but as soon as the perfect combination is found, a pet owner should have no problem with their cat remaining hydrated. A cat is one that prefers moving water. It must be an instinct from the wild to desire moving water as opposed to stagnant, but lots of cat owners report their cats will only drink running water.

To check the cats' preference, just turn on a faucet part way (high water pressure will most likely scare the poor thing) and situate the cat next to the sink. There is a good chance the cat will examine it cautiously at first and then start to drink. If the cat likes this, it will be obvious when they begin jumping up to the faucet and trying to drink without the water running. If they do indeed seem to like getting their water this way, a pet drinking fountain may be bought to facilitate this.

Information About Chlamydia in Cats By Darrin Swain

Both bacteria and viruses can cause conjunctivitis in cats. This condition is known as pink eye, the same thing that can affect dogs, humans, and other animals. Feline chlamydia results from a bacterial infection. Cats are usually infected with other viruses along with this disease like herpes virus and calicivirus.

Chlamydia in cats usually affects those at the younger or older end of the spectrum. Those with damaged immune systems or other illness of some sort have an increased risk too. However, the bacterial infection can cause symptoms in any cat.

There is an assortment of ways that feline chlamydia can be transmitted. The bacteria can be passed via eye discharge, nose secretions, or saliva from infected cats. Mothers are also capable of transmitting the disease to their kittens while giving birth.

You should also know that it's possible chlamydia in cats to be transmitted in indirect ways. The bacteria can live in bedding, food dishes, and other places and can infect your cat if he comes into contact with them. Owners can also harbor the bacteria on their hands and pass it along to their felines.

Seeing the white of your cat's eyes turn red is one of the primary signs of feline chlamydia. The eye may also swell, with the third eyelid closing partially. Discharge that's very watery may also appear from the eyes. All of this will irritate your cat's eye, causing him to paw at it frequently. This illness may only cause symptoms in one eye at first. Eventually though, both eyes will likely experience problems. As mentioned, chlamydia in cats usually occurs at the same time as other respiratory conditions. Cats may have a fever, discharge from the nose, coughing, and sneezing if this occurs.

Feline chlamydia doesn't usually prove difficult to treat as long as it's mild. Antibiotics can get rid of the bacteria. They may be given orally or placed directly in the affected eyes. The condition can get more problematic though if there are other problems at the same time. Your cat may have an upper respiratory illness that requires hospitalization.

Whenever giving your cat antibiotics to treat any condition, it's vital to go through the entire regimen. If you don't, then the bacteria you're trying to get rid of may mutate and grow stronger. If this happens, they may become resistant to the antibiotics.

If you have multiple cats in your household, then you'll especially need to be careful with feline chlamydia. It can easily be transmitted to other cats. Keep infected cats in seclusion. Disinfect bedding, food dishes, and other places that can harbor the bacteria. Also, make sure that you wash your hands thoroughly after you touch the infected cat so that you don't spread it to your other felines.

Helpful Advice on Caring for Senior Cats By Darrin Swain

Sooner or later, your beloved cat will start to get old and experience physical changes. This typically occurs between the ages of seven and ten. However, some are fortunate enough to stave off major changes until approximately 12 years old. Whenever the time finally comes though, you will need to make a few changes in how you care for your pet. Keep reading for useful advice on caring for senior cats.

Most owners take their cats to the vet for an annual exam. Older cats need to be seen by the vet more often than their younger counterparts since the risk of problems has increased. It's best to schedule a wellness exam every six months.

You will also need to change what you feed your senior cat somewhat. Seniors who become less active but are still fed the same amount of calories will more than likely become overweight. Obesity is particularly a problem for seniors, so a veterinarian-approved diet would definitely be in order.

When caring for senior cats, always ensure that they always have access to fresh drinking water. Dehydration more easily sets in as cats advance in age. Their organs won't respond very well to chronic dehydration either. The kidneys usually give seniors the most problem, and frequent dehydration certainly won't do these vital organs any good.

Just like with humans, arthritis becomes a problem for older cats. Once arthritis sets in, your cat won't be as physically active as he used to be. Don't be surprised if he stops climbing the stairs or hopping up onto the windowsill. Arthritic cats may even have problems getting into their litter boxes. If you notice yours has an issue with this, you can accommodate him by getting a shorter box or even putting a set of stairs beside it.

Dental care is important for cats of all ages. For older cats, it becomes increasingly important. The risk of developing dental disease only increases with age. This disease can cause enough pain to keep your cat from eating.

Your cat may also lose the energy to keep himself groomed properly. You don't want him to develop a dry or excessively dirty coat. Matting can also become a problem if you have a long-haired breed. You can help your senior cat out by brushing him yourself on a daily basis, or at least a few times each week.

The changes that occur in your senior cat aren't just physical. He may also display mental issues much like elderly humans. He may wander around occasionally or even appear disoriented. Some cats become much more vocal and meow too much for their owner's liking. When caring for senior cats, also keep in mind they may not respond well to changes. Try to keep everything in the household the same as they do best with familiar routines.

There are quite a few diseases that are common in older cats. Hypertension, kidney issues, hyperthyroidism, and diabetes mellitus are among some of the most common. Different types of cancer are also more prevalent for aged cats.

With the increase in risk of these diseases, it's important to monitor your cat closely for changes. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, you may want to let a vet give his opinion of it. Examinations conducted twice a year will hopefully catch any diseases early on, which would hopefully make it easier to deal with.

The Truth About Cat Endocrine Alopecia By Darrin Swain

There are many reasons why cats can experience problems with hair loss. A relatively rare reason for this to occur is because of feline endocrine alopecia. Vets don't exactly know why this rare skin condition occurs.

Whenever it does develop though, your cat's hair will start thinning. Various areas of the body will be affected by hair loss. You may notice that these areas appear to be the same on both sides of the body. Two areas that are most often affected include the rear legs and abdominal region.

Certain other medical conditions can mimic the signs caused by feline endocrine alopecia. To see if your cat is really suffering from this condition, the vet will have to rule out other possible causes of the hair loss first. Parasites and conditions like ringworm can cause similar signs.

In order to make a diagnosis of endocrine alopecia in cats, vets typically look at a sample of hairs under a microscope. Doing so can help determine at what stage of their growth the hair were broken. Skin scrapings around the affected area can also help determine what's causing hair loss in your cat. Fungal infections like ringworm can easily cause signs.

A blood sample may also be in order if your vet suspects feline endocrine alopecia to be the problem. The sample won't be tested in the office though. A laboratory will need to inspect it to see how the endocrine system is functioning as far as hormones go.

As mentioned earlier, vets don't know why cat endocrine alopecia develops. Hormones like testosterone, estrogen, or thyroid hormone are some of the leading suspects though. Cats with the condition may need to start a regimen of hormone therapy to deal with it.

Cats that are eating foods that they're allergic to may experience spontaneous hair loss. Therefore, you may need to start your cat on a food trial to see if it helps relieve the signs. You may need to start feeding your cat a different type of food.

Sometimes, feline endocrine alopecia is treated with medications that are designed to grow the hair back. This isn't always the preferred method of treatment in cats though. These medications can lead to serious side effects in some felines. They can be toxic to the liver over time and also cause cardiac problems.

Cats may even develop other conditions like diabetes mellitus after taking these medications. Some even experience changes in their behavior.

Finding the best cat food for your kitty does not have to be high-priced. By Aaron Drenckpohl

Being aware of what is better for your pet's diet is always an intriguing dilemma to answer because there are countless selections to choose from. For starters I am going to inform you what cat food is produced from. And I'm talking about the one that comes processed or bagged and that you can buy just about at any food store.

The dry and wet foods are basically leftovers of meats from local butchers and supermarkets once they have obtained the "high grade" sections from the animals. Such as, beef, poultry, turkey and pork. These remains of meat, unwanted fat plus bones will be taken to companies that make cat food like Purina, Procter and Gamble, Whiskas and many others. They will buy this kind of cheap"meat" and process it through degrading it by temperature, pressurizing it and also by incorporating several substances to it. After they develop this type of paste they'll add the chemicals as well as vitamins and minerals that the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) requires them to contain in the final product to meet up with specific quality standard.

Then depending on what type of presentation the end product is going to be they either extract or include water to it. When it's destined to be bagged then they will get it dry and in case it's going canned or maybe in pouches they may need to add some moisture content to it.

The prevalent denominator of these food products is definitely the content of proteins, fibers, fats and taurine. The next thing will be incorporating the corresponding vitamins and minerals depending about what the specific health condition is going to be. As an example, if your cat has hairball issue then the food will contain a bit more of crude fiber in it. Another example would be food targeted for healthy bones and teeth, which just like in human beings, calcium is an essential part for keeping them strong as well as healthy.

Just like the couple of targeted health problems I mentioned you could find many more such as bad breath, healthy joints, food allergies, weight loss, etc. A few brands will incorporate Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids which will help protect against disorders like high-cholesterol, renal system condition and also allergies. Although these kinds of acids are not required by the AAFCO I find them to be very helpful for your pet's healthy live style.

To conclude, the best cat food could be just about any brand name at the nearest market. It does not necessarily must be the highly-priced famous brands in order to be looked at good. Basically look at the proteins and fibers contents particularly and your cat should be fine. This is applicable with regard to already healthful adult cats. Should you have indoor cats simply get them the indoor cats formula because it is made up of grains and greens which will help them with their digestive system minimizing hairballs. In case your cat has some sort of distinct health problem simply grab the food intended for this. In general all brands contain the same recipe they simply have various brands and displays. Thus for my part there's not a best cat food brand particularly, it's much more about the content.

Expiration Date On Canned Goods Is Not Intended To Be Specific

I took a little time this weekend to clean my car inside and out, and that included the trunk. Came across a road emergency kit that's been back there for years (thankfully haven't needed it) but among the litany of emergency supplies were 2 forgotten cans of smoked salmon. Now, these cans had to be back there for a while, because the expiration date on the lids said 'expires 01/16/11'. However, the integrity of the cans looked good, so instead of throwing them out, I opened one up, gave it a try, and it smelled and tasted fine. But it made me wonder about the expiration date on canned goods and how accurate those dates really are.

Is an expiration date on canned goods just a ploy by the manufacturer to get you to throw cans out and buy new replacements? Or should expiration dates be adhered to? Well, according to the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) most canned goods like veggies, fish and meats will stay edible in the can for 2 to 5 years, depending on how the can is stored. If the can is not exposed to prolonged heat, and if the can is not leaking or bulging, the food inside should be safe to eat. If you open an outdated can, use the smell test. And if you're still not sure, call the manufacturer using the 800 number on the can, or throw it away.

An expiration date on canned goods indicates the peak quality of the contents

This simply means that the expiration date on canned goods indicates the approximate time when the food inside is at its best eating point. And though the quality of the food may deteriorate after this date, it should still be OK to eat for a while. But always watch for damage to the container. If the can is bulging, this indicates the food inside is contaminated with deadly botulism poisoning, so you'll want to throw that out. And don't put canned goods in the freezer. The cold could cause the can to expand, and perhaps break its seal, which would contaminate the food inside.

Expiration date on canned goods is not an expiration date at all

Just in case you're wondering, there is no standard method among manufacturers to code stamp, or date their products. It's up to the manufacturer to label their products with a product ID, not only with the date of expiration on their can products, but also with the day the product was packaged, and at which plant the packaging took place.

Hopefully, this will help alleviate any concerns you might have over an expiration date on canned goods. Even if the dates on your canned goods have expired, that's no reason to throw them out. When in doubt, just use your nose and your common sense to determine if they're OK for consumption or not. The expiration date on canned goods is there for a reason, but mainly as a general go-by. And stored properly, they should give you years of safe, stockpiled satisfaction.

Thanks for reading. I enjoy writing on a wide range of interesting topics, and they're posted at http://www.glenhawke.com/

Pet Health - Information Regarding Cat Enteritis By Darrin Swain

Enteritis in cats is a very serious disease. It's often referred to as distemper, which is a disease that dogs commonly get. However, feline enteritis isn't the same. A common other name for the condition is panleukopenia.

This disease normally strikes kittens younger than six months old. However, older cats also have a relatively increased risk of developing it. Older cats may be strong enough to fight off the affliction, but kittens can easily succumb to it.

Feline enteritis is caused by a virus. Wild animals such as cats and raccoons can harbor the highly contagious virus. Infected animals can pass it to your cat by coming into direct contact with him. If your cat comes into contact with nasal or oral secretions, he can get infected too.

Owners should also know that the virus that causes enteritis in cats can also contaminate items such as bedding, litter boxes, and food dishes. Owners can also pass the virus along to their cats because it's capable of contaminating human hands.

After being infected with feline enteritis, your cat may not show any symptoms for up to ten days. Common signs include high fever and loss of appetite. Cats may also vomit frequently, producing yellow-tinted bile in the process. If you touch your cat in the abdominal region, he may cry out in pain. It is also common for cats to have diarrhea and produce stool that also has a yellow color, although it may appear to have blood in it instead.

As mentioned, enteritis in cats is quite serious. That's why it is important that you get your cat checked out and diagnosed with the condition as soon as possible. The chances of your cat surviving a bout with this virus rise considerably the earlier that treatment is started.

There is no way to battle the virus that causes cat enteritis directly. The vet will simply need to provide supportive measures to help your cat make it through the disease. Antibiotics will likely be given to stave off any bacterial infections. IV fluids and nutrition therapy may also be necessary.

It is very easy to prevent enteritis in cats. Simply have your feline vaccinated. The virus can live virtually anywhere in your home, so your kitten would be at risk if left unvaccinated. Using a standard disinfectant won't be enough to kill the virus either.

If your cat survives an episode of feline enteritis, then you should be aware that he will continue to shed the virus for a few weeks. Other cats in the household can easily be infected. The good news is that cats that survive an infection from the virus will be relatively safe from reinfection since their immune system will be boosted.

Break Your Habit Of Patronizing Chain Restaurants

Many people that appreciate the culinary arts enjoy visiting independent restaurants. They choose these sorts of places because they know that they are guaranteed to have a unique dining experience. Plus, they get the pleasure of having a professional chef prepare something that they may not normally eat at home. Then, there are the eateries that go above and beyond in terms of service and hospitality. These are the establishments that make meal time a truly delightful affair.

Perhaps you are a foodie who enjoys sampling local fare. It is rare that chain restaurants can offer patrons the opportunity to sink their teeth into something that has grown or been pastured in the area. In order to ensure that the same familiar menu items are available at all of their businesses, the corporation that owns the restaurant chain has to have processed food delivered to every single location. This allows the corporation to offer cheaper meals to the masses.

Independent restaurateurs often attempt to build relationships with nearby farmers and producers of fine foods. This makes a restaurant distinct, in that the establishment is able to offer a sampling of regional delicacies. For example, perhaps an area is known for its succulent berries. If this is the case, restaurants in the area may want to capitalize on the availability of these extremely fresh fruits. They can be used to create desserts, cocktails, sauces, and many other tasty treats. Plus, sourcing local ingredients means that a restaurant is able to support the economy in the area. That means putting money in the pockets of local farmers, fisherman, bakers, and other people that care about quality food.

The next time you are headed somewhere new, you may want to do some research on where the best restaurants in that city or region can be found. Choose to visit a few of the establishments that sound particularly appealing to you. These days, most restaurants post their menus online. Some share information about their seasonal specialties via social media. If you consider yourself a connoisseur of fine wines or spirits, you might even want to locate a place that produces its own alcohol. Some regions are well known for their craft beers and boutique wines. Other places house distilleries right on the premises. Regardless of why you choose a certain independent restaurant, get ready to enjoy yourself there. You are in for a special evening of food and drink.

When you are looking to eat at a few of the Oregon coast restaurants, consider dinning at McMenamins. View their menu at: http://www.mcmenamins.com/.

Buy Your Cat Supplies Online By Joe Snyder

Best Items and Cat Supplies Online

It is always a celebration whenever a new kitten or cat is brought to a fresh home. Knowing this, it is then important to be prepared with all the necessary supplies that you think the pet might require before it arrives, instead of shopping after the animal has entered your house. Here are the most basic and necessary tools that you might want to look for the next time you drop by the pet store, or when you look at some cat supplies online.

Tools for Litter
These boxes are essential for holding all your kitten's litters, from droppings to the cat's war trophies and toys from outside the house. These tools must be washed and replenished with sand regularly, and your cleaning utensils should include a disinfectant and a litter scoop.

Cat Tree/Scratching Post
It is natural for cats to scratch, and so it is not right for you to have your pet de-clawed to stop them from playing with your furniture. It is best that you buy your feline a scratching post to help it both exercise its muscles and polish its claws. You will find a variety of these essentials in nearby pet shops and retailers of cat supplies online.

Food and water bowls
Some of these are made from plastic and metal, while others are built to automatically replenish the animal's food supply according to the schedule that you've set. There are even pottery bowls, which are sturdy and can be heated inside the microwave. You can also find drinking fountains that are constructed to accommodate the weight and size of the cats.

Cat Food
You have to provide your cat with adequate amounts of fresh food and water every day at a given time. You should try to purchase those that are branded, since they are the safest among your other choices, which may include leftovers or even dog chow. You should also consider the age of your kitten when picking a good diet for your animal, as young animals tend to have more sensitive stomachs.

Carriers
This is used when taking your cat outside, especially to the vet or to a long vacation away from home. Remember to consider the case's durability and construction whenever picking one for your cat. Both factors will ensure that your pet stays safe inside the carrier.

Toys
Your bundle of fluff will need a range of toys to keep it happy and healthy. You can start supplying your pet with these by visiting a nearby supply store to look for toy mice, cat nip, and the like.

Beds
Cat beds may seem to be one of the luxuries among the many tools you see when checking out cat supplies online, but these mattresses are actually very important since cats, especially kittens, love to snuggle. Cheap cat beds, such as an old blanket or a throw pillow, will do. What's important is that the bed will be cozy enough for your pet.

Worming/Flea Control Products
There are many products to get rid of fleas and ticks inside markets, but it is best to listen to your veterinarian because these products can be dangerous, especially when your cat becomes too exposed to the chemicals, or if it accidentally licks some of the substance.

Grooming Products
These products are totally optional if your cat has short fur, but it also pays to spend time with your kitten. Remember, these felines like it when they are pampered.

What Impact Does Norovirus Have On Food Hygiene And Safety?

What is norovirus?

Known in lay terms as the winter vomiting bug, norovirus can cause dangerous infections of the stomach and bowel and is, in fact, one of the most common causes of gastroenteritis in the UK. The resulting symptoms are highly unpleasant, since they include diarrhoea, vomiting and fever and, in certain circumstances, this can lead to severe dehydration.

How does norovirus spread?

Norovirus is highly infectious, and the risks of contracting an illness from it can be serious, which is why maintaining good hygiene at all times is essential. The virus can spread from an infected person to somebody else. It can also spread by eating or drinking contaminated products (including food contaminated at its source, such as oysters taken from contaminated water), or when a person or a food comes into contact with an object or surface that has been contaminated. A huge problem with norovirus is that it is able to survive in a contaminated spot for a number of days, which is why those handling food should always ensure excellent hygiene and safety at all times, both in the kitchen and outside of it.

How can food handlers improve food hygiene and safety to reduce the risk of norovirus transmission?

Hand washing should form an innate part of a food handler's behaviour. It is important to prevent the transmission of all viruses and bacteria, not just norovirus. To get rid of as many pathogens as possible, hands should be washed thoroughly with hot water and soap before and after any food is prepared or handled. The same is also necessary in other circumstances, especially after going to the toilet. The reason for this is because if any trace of vomit or faeces from someone who is infected gets onto the food, there is a risk that another person who handles or eats the food will be infected. It is important to note that hand sanitizers cannot be used as a sufficient substitution for hand washing when it comes to norovirus because some are effective against this particular virus while others have no effect at all.

Another extremely important point for food handlers to recognise is that they should not return to work until they have fully recovered which will be three days after symptoms have subsided. This is because someone infected with norovirus is not only highly contagious during the time they display symptoms, but also for a number of days afterwards when norovirus particles continue to be shed. Therefore, a food handler must not be involved in any food preparation, cooking or serving areas, and must not be allowed on site if ill, otherwise an outbreak of norovirus infection could occur.

In the unfortunate event of an employee becoming ill on site, care must be taken to make sure that any clothing or materials soiled by vomit or faeces is machine washed straight away and then dried. Any sinks or bathrooms in which someone has been ill must also be thoroughly cleaned to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Disinfecting surfaces is also a must, as is ensuring that utensils and kitchen equipment are kept clean. Furthermore, food handlers should ideally not have bare hand contact with any food ready to be eaten, and should preferably wear single-use gloves. Extremely good hand washing procedures must be in place if such direct contact is allowed, given that only a small number of norovirus cells are needed to cause infection in a person.

Finally, it must be remembered that these food hygiene procedures must be carried out in addition to those already in place. Norovirus outbreaks are unfortunately all too common and can occur even when the most stringent hygiene and safety levels are enforced. However, the majority of outbreaks are avoidable and food handlers have a particularly important role in helping to minimise the risk to others of becoming contaminated with this virus. Norovirus not only brings significant problems of disease but can result in becoming an economic burden. Food handlers should be strict about the way in which they carry out tasks in the workplace, always ensuring the highest level of hygiene and safety.

Paul Grantham works for the Safer Food Group, which has developed a range of distance learning food safety courses for the UK market. From a level 1 food hygiene certificate for occasional food handlers to level 3 food hygiene courses for supervisors, Safer Food Group offers training for all of food handler.

Air Cleaner For Cats- 4 Important Features To Have In A Purifier

For those of us who love cats, we are often able to overlook the hair, dander, and odort that they can produce. However, allowing these pollutants to accumulate can not only be unsightly, but can cause allergies and asthma to flare. Clearing the air with a purifier is an effective solution if the purifier has the following 4 features.

Carbon Filter---Thank goodness for carbon, because it is well-known for its ability to filter gaseous pollutants from the air. So if an air purifier is to be effective at removing urine smell it must have 10 to 15 pounds of activated carbon.

The added bonus of having carbon is that even though your main concern may be odor from your feline friend, carbon doesn't really care about the source of the odor. It will indiscriminately remove gases, odors, and chemicals that may be lurking in your air from everyday living such as cooking smells from last night's dinner, fragrances from personal products, and smells cleaning products emit.

Filter For Removing Ammonia---Remember when your grandmother used to clean windows with ammonia? That's because it's powerful stuff. And ammonia is one of the main components of urine. That's why cat urine can be such an eye-stinging experience.

In order for any cleaner to be able to remove this smell, it needs a carbon filter that has a considerable amount of activated carbon in it. But carbon alone can't effectively remove it completely.

An additive such as ammonasorb that is specifically designed to absorb the ammonia is what is needed. This additive has been shown to enhance carbon's ability to absorb the ammonia and return the air to your home smelling fresh and clean.

Filter For Dander---Cat dander can be mistaken for particles you sometimes see floating in your air. In fact, the dead skin flakes that your pet is constantly shedding are invisible to the human eye. These flakes are microscopic in size.

But the effect that they can have on someone who is allergic or asthmatic is huge. Constant exposure to high levels of dander can and often does cause sensitivity where there was previously none.

That's why it's important to have a filter that can remove micron size particles. A high-efficiency particle arresting (HEPA) filter is the best type of filter for the job because by definition, it can remove airborne particulates as small as.3 microns.

This is the type of filtration that is recommended for people with asthma and allergies, and is used by hospitals to insure clean air.

Living with a warm-blooded pet such as a cat probably means that your main concerns center around hair and dander, but HEPA filtration will also remove other well-known allergens such as dust, dust mites, mold and mildew spores, bacteria, and viruses.

24 Hour Cleaning Capability---A cleaner can have the best combination of filters in the entire world, but unless it can run all the time, it will constantly be playing catch up. And for you that means your air is not consistently clean. Keeping air quality high all the time is the most effective way to minimize the effects allergens can have.

A split capacitor motor is designed to run safely and effectively for long periods of time without needing a rest. Check the technical specifications to make sure that your unit can clean continuously. Allergens don't take a break and your unit shouldn't have to either.

You love cats?Do you want cats wallpapers?

Hy! Do you want wallpapers with cats? Let's know something about cats first!

One of the things we love the most about cats is the fact that they can often be so unintentionally funny. People who think the cat are aloof simply don't know cat as you and I do. Our Show and Tell Feature on this site offers a number of ways you can share your funny pictures.

The domestic cat(Felis catus or Felis silvestris catus)is a small, usually furry, domesticated, carnivorous mammal. It is often called the house cat when kept as an indoor pet, or simply the cat when there is no need to distinguish it from other felids and felines. The cat are valued by humans for companionship and ability to hunt vermin and household pests.

Cats are similar in anatomy to the other felids, with strong, flexible bodies, quick reflexes, sharp retractable claws, and teeth adapted to killing small prey. Cat senses fit a crepuscular and predatory ecological niche. Can hear sounds too faint or too high in frequency for human ears, such as those made by mice and other small game. They can see in near darkness. Like most mammals, cats have poorer color vision and a better sense of smell than humans.

Despite being solitary hunters, them are a social species, and cat communication includes the use of a variety of vocalizations (meowing, purring, trilling, hissing, growling and grunting) as well as pheromones and types of cat-specific body language.

Cats have a rapid breeding rate. Under controlled breeding, they can be bred and shown as registered pedigree pets, a hobby known as cat fancy. Failure to control the breeding of pet cats by spaying and neutering, and the abandonment of former household pets, has resulted in large numbers of feral cats worldwide, with a population of up to 60 million of these animals in the United States alone, while in Japan they are caught and disposed of.

Information Dog Owners Should Know Regarding Endocrine Alopecia in Felines

It is vital that cat owners be aware that their feline can be affected by many different conditions such as feline chlamydia . Learning this information will help you recognize signs of disease quickly. To learn about some of these feline diseases , click over to common-cat-diseases.com today.

Pet Health Tips - Information on Cat Hyperesthesia Syndrome

Hyperesthesia syndrome in cats is a very unique condition. Cats afflicted with it will display unusual behavior at various intervals. It often causes them to lick or chew themselves excessively. Not only can this cause them to lose their hair, but irritation or sores on the skin can also develop. When experiencing an episode, your cat won't appreciate being physically touched.

After hyperesthetic cats have finished licking themselves, they may start running around your home frantically. You'll notice your kitty appears to be depressed or very afraid of something. The pupils will also be dilated due to feline hyperesthesia syndrome.

Another usual sign of hyperesthesia syndrome in cats is a rolling or rippling of the skin on a certain part of your cat's back. The muscle in this area of the back is responsible for causing this rippling effect. An episode can be brought about simply by touching the area.

Cats affected by feline hyperesthesia syndrome may also salivate a lot and be unable to control urination. There is no set time limit for an episode. Some cats only display problems for just a few seconds, while others can have an episode that lasts for a few minutes.

Any breed can be affected by cat hyperesthesia syndrome. However, a few unfortunate ones have a higher degree of risk. They include exotic breeds such as Himalayans, Siamese, and Burmese.

Since there are various other conditions that can cause some of the same signs, they will need to be eliminated in order to make a proper diagnosis of hyperesthesia. Your cat may be suffering from a slipped disk or a pinched nerve which can cause similar signs. Issues with the skin may be brought about by allergies to food or an infestation of fleas or mites.

To rule out these potential other causes, a variety of tests will need to be conducted. The vet will likely start with a physical examination, then move on to neurological tests to see if they're the problem. Blood and urine tests will also be helpful. There isn't always a physical cause of feline hyperesthesia syndrome though.

Fortunately, this condition is relatively minor, and won't lead to serious problems for cats affected by it. However, serious problems can develop if the skin lesions or sores become infected. Simple changes to your cat's lifestyle may be enough. Reducing stress can severely limit the number of episodes your cat suffers.

He should be fed at regular times on a daily basis. The same goes for periods of play. If there are conditions in the environment that causes problems in your cat, then they'll ideally need to be removed. Some cats with the condition can't tolerate being around other cats.

Feline hyperesthesia syndrome can also be treated with different types of medications. The vet may prescribe your cat anti-anxiety medications to limit problems. Other possible treatments include corticosteroids or anti-seizure medications. If these medications are ever discontinued, problems may recur. That means that your cat will likely need to take them for the rest of his life.

As an owner, it's important that you know about various health problems like constipation in cats that can affect your furry friend. Learning this information will help you recognize signs of disease quickly. Make sure you stop by common-cat-diseases.com right now to learn about many of these diseases in felines .

Heated Cat Beds Help Outdoor Cats Survive Winter Temperatures

Cold temperatures can be difficult even for the healthiest of pets. Prolonged expose to the cold for a cat can result in frost bite, hypothermia, and possibly even death. Additionally, the stress on the body caused by prolonged exposure to the cold will reduces the life expectancy of a cat living in the outdoors. Some people are fooled into thinking that just because a cat has a thick fur coat they will be safe from the effect of prolonged cold temperatures. But their fur coat is simply not enough to keep them sufficiently warm during winter temperatures. The overall best practice is to just keep your cat inside during the winter. But, if the situation is such that the cat you are trying to protect is completely outside, here are a few suggestions and practices that will help.

Dry, warm shelter is paramount. If a human were left outside in the cold to survive for an extended period of time, one of the first things he would need to find in order to survive would be dry, warm shelter. The same is true for a cat trying to survive cold temperatures. Providing the cat full-time access to a garage, shed or barn is a great start. If this is not possible than providing an insulated cat house placed in a nook away from the weather elements is another good option. The house should be small in size, i.e., just large enough for perhaps two to three cats to go inside and turn around. The small size will help to conserve body heat. The house should also utilize insulation with a high R-value sandwiched in the walls, roof and floor. It is suggested that the interior seams of the house also be sealed so that moisture does not find its way in. The door of the house should be oriented away from the elements such as wind, rain, snow and sleet. A clear path should always be kept to avoid the cat becoming potentially snow bound.

But no matter the shelter that you choose to provide, the cat will also need to be supplied with ample bedding in order to stay warm. A thick bedding of cedar chips or straw can suffice. Blankets and towels are definitely not recommended since once they are wet; they become cold and very difficult to dry. The best option for outdoor shelter venues whether it is a garage, covered porch, barn, shed or cat house is an outdoor heated cat bed. These beds are made of soft PVC and do not absorb water, always providing comfortable warmth even in below freezing temperatures. They also use very low wattage and are efficient. A heated cat bed not only can give you some piece of mind, but it will become your kitty's favorite spot, knowing it will have warmth and comfort from those harsh winter temperatures. It will become their haven, their rescue from an inhospitable temperature environment.

Provide and maintain plenty of water. A constant supply of clean, unfrozen water is very important to minimize the risk of dehydration. . The water source should be protected from the elements or heated to prevent freezing. Low-wattage heated bowls work very well as a solution in making certain unfrozen water is always available. As a lower budget option, you can use spray foam insulation on the underside of a deep plastic water bowl. This will help slow the freezing process, but will not eliminate it. So make sure warm water is placed in the bowl regularly.

Provide plenty of food. As with any physically body, whether it is human or animal, high levels of calories are burned by the body in just keeping itself warm. So make sure an ample supply of nutritious food is provided. Cats that spend time outside simply need more to eat. Feeding on a regular schedule is also important. Your cat will come to expect the food and will be waiting for it; therefore the food will spend less time in the cold. Ideally, you can provide your cat with a simple feeding station that includes a roof and sides so that your cat will be protected from the elements while it dines.

Cats need protection from the dangers of winter temperatures. Of course, keeping your cat indoors is always the safest and most effective way to promote their good health. But if your cat is going to have prolonged exposure to the cold it is imperative to provide dry shelter and a constant source of warmth which is best provided by a heated pet bed. Keep in mind that if the weather is too cold for you to comfortably spend long period of time outside, then it is probably too cold for your cat as well.

A Vegan Diet: What Do You Eat?

It never ceases to amaze me how those who eat a typical western diet, high in saturated fat, do not know what vegans eat. Some don't even know what vegetarians eat, and they eat plenty of different foods.

But when it comes to the vegan diet most meat eaters (or corpse crunchers, as I've heard them called) can never think of a meal that doesn't contain animal flesh, dairy or eggs. Yet many have eaten the humble baked beans on toast meal without ever realizing that it was probably vegan. Or how about a baked potato with salad? Again, it's a well-known meal yet few realize it's vegan.

The other concern about the vegan diet is protein. Many people wrongly believe that a vegan diet lacks protein. But it doesn't. Because vegans eat a bigger variety of foods, they get all the protein they need. And although we need to consume protein every day, we only need around 30% of our diet to be protein. And most foods contain protein. Even the humble potato has protein in it.

So what do vegans eat? Anything that doesn't contain meat, eggs or dairy. You might think that it doesn't leave much choice of what to eat, but you'd be surprised.

Here is just a short list of vegan foods:

PizzaChilliSaladStewPastaFalafelPancakesCasseroleStir fryPiesPastiesWrapsNoodlesRice dishes

And there are so many variations of each one. For instance you can have 'cheezy' pasta, tomato pasta, vegetable pasta or pasta and pesto. And the types of wraps, casseroles salads and pies are so varied that there isn't room to list them all here.

And yes, pizzas can be vegan if you sprinkle it with vegetables, grains and beans and leave out the cheese. Covering pizzas with cheese was actually an American idea. Originally, Italians ate them without cheese. Pizzas were simply a way to use up uneaten bread and other leftovers from the fridge.

There is much more information around now about living a vegan lifestyle and search engines like Google make it easy to find out as much as you want and to find recipes.

When you start looking into a vegan diet you'll find the ideas for meals are limitless. You can just take what you have in the pantry and fridge and throw a simple meal together. Or, if you prefer, there are plenty of 'meat' substitutes available too.

Just take a look online and you'll see just how good a vegan diet can be. Much more healthy than the usual meat-based idea of eating.

Ruth Barringham has been a vegetarian most of her life and is now a vegan. She has set up a website to help others learn about living a vegan lifestyle and how it can help you, the animals and the planet. Visit AustralianVegan.net to find out more at http://australianvegan.net/.

Do You Really Need An Outside Events Caterer?

If you are planning on hosting an event in a marquee or other outdoor location there are several things to consider. Decide on the venue, the size and contents of the event and the dates and times it will be open; whether admission will be free, by pre-sold tickets or by payment at the gate.

The next thing to consider is the risk assessment. Make a short written assessment of each of the attractions and/or activities that make up the event. Identify all the possible hazards that could occur. Remember any materials, structures or machinery on or around the site that might add risk to the event, such as ladders, water features, gas or other fuel containers, etc.

Start organising several months before the event, as far as possible as you can. This will give you time to carry out your risk assessments and obtain specialist advice where necessary. It will also allow time for the statutory authorities (ie, police, fire and ambulance services and local authority) and the voluntary organisations (ie, first aid societies, etc,) to make their arrangements, especially if they need to attend the event. This is important during the summer months when there may be several events taking place on the same day.

There are many things that you may want to organise personally yourself. However, if you can afford to leave one thing to the professionals, it's the outside event catering. Although, guidance notes and advice on all aspects of food hygiene at the event can be obtained from the appropriate local authority department, a professional outsourced caterer should be able to handle this for you.

Reputable caterers will have their own food hygiene certificate and other necessary paperwork such as insurance. They will be used to the red tape surrounding food standards. They will obviously guide you on other aspects of event organisation in addition to menus and types of food to offer. Is a hog roast what you're after or, would you like canapes to be circulated to your guests? However, they may also be able to assist you in other things such as the choice of venue, staff, cutlery, crockery and glasses. Some may be able to offer you some guidance on entertainment or, at the very least suggest recommendations from previous events they have provided outside catering for.

It is definitely worth asking your preferred outside events caterer to see what help, advice and assistance they can give. At the end of the day they are professionals at event scattering and their expertise and knowledge may be invaluable to you.

What's Better? Store Bought Broth, Homemade Stock Or Professional Soup Base?

If you're making soup, you usually start with either stock or broth. But most home cooks will agree that these are not quite the same. Some prefer store-bought broth and others like the homemade stock better. But do you know what great cooks do nowadays? They use professional soup bases! This is the latest trend in making delicious and tasty cooking.

Broth is created by the boiling of vegetables and meat, without bones in water. Homemade stock is created by boiling the bones, meat and vegetables. As you can see, they have similar ingredients but they aren't quite the same. So it is easy to understand that the end result would be different. And the soup you would create would then be quite different as well.

Those who make homemade stock will know that it has more nutrition in it, it is much better for you than the broth is. So right from the start, your soup has healthier ingredients. When you make your own stock, it costs twice as much to buy it in the store as it does than to cook your own.

This is where professional soup bases come in. Soup bases win over both store-bought broth and homemade stock in a way that it is made by better methods than how homemade stock is done. Soup bases are made from premium high quality meat, poultry, seafood or vegetables that are freshly cooked, just like homemade stock, but technically advanced specially customized equipment is used to capture and retain the entire fresh flavor. A minimal amount of salt is added for preservation and flavoring, but it does not contain any artificial flavors, colors or chemicals preservatives.

One of the biggest arguments for store bought stock is the convenience factor. While some would argue that although cooking homemade stock takes time, it is still worth it because it is simply delicious. If you are making soup and use homemade stock, you truly can tell the difference.

With professional soup bases providing the same natural taste as homemade stock, it can also last over 1 year as long as it is properly refrigerated and stored. Soup bases can also be stored in the freezer to extend shelf life. Bringing out the time savings, big cost savings (averages about 60 cents per quart) and longevity of product once opened, it is no wonder why professional cooks and home buddies around the country are catching up on this trend. Another plus is, that if you need just a cup of broth for a recipe, you make just 1 cup. Even the amount of space it takes to store in small containers adds to its practical convenience for anyone working in the kitchen. A container about the size of a sour cream container will yield up to 5 gallons of stock. Many home made and store bought stocks will last only about 2 weeks in the refrigerator. When using soup bases you won't have leftovers to store.

Like to order some soup base? Soupbase.com is the exclusive national home cook distributor featuring professional ingredients made by Minor's and much more. You'll find 100% natural, no artificial ingredients, preservatives or color in our soup bases. Bases are available in regular, low sodium, no-added MSG and gluten free varieties. Many pets need enough amount of stimulation so as to prevent them from getting bored, and trees are definitely one among best furniture that will keep your active through the day. Safety Matters a Lot!

It should be the very first thing that you need to consider, when shopping for a tree. Not only should you provide safety for your cat, but also for you or anyone who comes close to that tree. owner should know what their cats can do, and if there are risky areas in your home, the pets are going to explore it for sure.

The manufacturer is responsible for making a well-constructed tree, but the owners are equally responsible for making good judgment in terms of selection. Ensure that the design of the does not compromise on safety. Some of them could be made of cheap materials and could collapse under the weight of your pet. How's Your Truffle Knowledge?

The price is a key factor especially if you are new to Truffles. For example the Truffles that are in high supply such as Black Summer Truffles tend to be a lot cheaper than their Winter counterpart that aren't in such a high supply. If you are new to Truffles you won't want to spend too much money on something that you may not like so it's best to buy a smaller amount and try to save a bit of money. The most expensive Truffles tend to be the Perigord (Black Winter Truffle) or the White Winter Truffles as they are of a high quality and in a shorter supply.

The different varieties have very different tastes from hazel nuts to deep earthy flavours. They also have different aromas and can be more pungent than other varieties. Depending on the time of the season, the flavour and aroma will change. At the start of a Truffle season the taste and smell of the Truffle will not be as strong as the mid to late season Truffles. It is often recommended to buy Truffles around a month into the season as these will be of better quality so you get more bang for your buck.

As a general rule of thumb the white Truffles are much more of a rarity so will cost a little more than black. However with that being said, prices do vary depending on how common the type of Truffle is during the season.

The current Truffle in season now is the Black Summer Truffle which is the most cost friendly. It is rich in aroma and has a complex earthy flavour and it won't empty the bank, making the it the perfect starter truffle as well as a brilliant buy for the more experienced buyer.

Truffles of course can be found in many different countries around the world such as France, Italy or even Australia and America. In England they are often found in the summer months however they aren't as in such high supply and are often found later in the year.

Another key thing about the varieties of Truffle is that they keep for a slightly different amount of time. By this I mean the amount of time that a truffle stays fresh and at its peak in quality. As a general rule you should use the Truffle within two weeks of being hunted as after this time they will start to loose flavour unless they are preserved. The Black Summer Truffle for example will keep for a little longer than any other kind (around two to three weeks after being hunted).

I hope that this article has given you a little insight to some of the varieties of Truffles and has given you a bit more knowledge about these beautiful little things!

Every kind of truffle can be found at Trufflehunter.co.uk, From delicious black summer truffles to exquisite white truffles, Trufflehunter has them all.

Grumpy Cat Inspires Grumpy Art

Once she went online she became an internet sensation, and now the Grumpy Cat called Tard has served as an inspiration to some incredible works of art.

Her grumpy face has appeared on numerous T-shirts, mugs, and it was memefied thousands of times. It even inspired some people to create pumpkin carvings and costumes for the recent "trick or treat" holiday, i.e., Halloween.

Before I go on with some genuine pieces of art inspired by Grumpy, I want to share some basic info about the grumpiest cat ever.

Tard's Road to Fame

Known as Tardar Sauce or Tard, the cat with the grumpiest face ever rose to the Internet fame after a photo of her was posted on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.

According to Knowyourmeme.com, the scowl-faced kitty got upvoted more than 25,300 times on Reddit, and it was viewed more that million times on Imgur.

And eventually it got even her own video!

Is Tard Really Grumpy?

If you ask Tard's owner Tabatha, you will probably get a No, as an answer. According to her, that's just her face.

"Tardar has what looks kind of like an under bite. She looked unique, as did her brother, at birth, with a flat face, bubble eyes, and a short tail," says Tabatha, adding:

"Tardar is not as coordinated as a normal cat, so she is likely a little angry about that. I think she likes to be held and petted some times, but being the pet of a 10 year old could make anyone grumpy."

Grumpy's Family

Apart from living with Tabatha, Tard also shares the same roof with her mommy Callie, brother Pokey, three newborn kittens, a dog (brother) named Shaggy, a dog (sister) named Honey, a dog (grandmother) called Raven, and the most important family member, her 10 year old co-owner Chyrstal Bundesen. Ah, I hope I didn't leave out anyone!

Grumpy Art Inspired by TardAndhere comes the art, finally! The Grumpy Cat in the act of being grumpyThe Halloween-related memeOne of my favorite Gumpy cat memesThe Grumpy cat cardThe Grumpy Cat portrait

Hope you enjoyed in the grumpy inspired art above, and didn't get grumpy yourself! If you did, then I hope these cat gifs will cheer you up, since it's Monday and the week has just started!

Where to Find the Best Hot Lobster Roll

Maine live Lobster

Hot Lobster Rolls prepared with Maine live Lobster is something I will plan a motorcycle road trip around. Bentley's Saloon camp ground in Arundel, Maine is the perfect destination. Last summer, Tertia and I went up for a motorcycle camping trip, located just west of Kennebunkport, Maine.

Bentley's camp ground caters to the motorcycle enthusiast. Everyone is so friendly. It had started to rain as we were starting to set up camp. I have a tow along camper I pull with the bike. It doesn't take long to set up but we needed some extra shelter. Campers across the street helped us put up the canopy to keep us out of the rain.

After helping set up, our neighbors invited us over for dinner. What a meal, grilled steak tips, shrimp kabobs, Teriyaki chicken, grilled corn on the cob, hot lobster rolls, Maine live lobster of course, and plenty of beer. They wanted to use up everything before packing up and heading home. They even gave us a six-pack to end our stay. What a great way to start our trip.

After breakfast at Bentley's Saloon the next morning, Tertia and I decided to take a ride along the coast past President Bush's summer home. On our ride we decided to stop by Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, Maine for hot lobster rolls. Maine live lobster is the featured food on the pier. Steamed lobster, served on a grilled hot dog bun with drawn butter. It doesn't get any easier or better than that. Of course we had to sample some lobster bisque off the pier too. Maine live lobster is at our figure tips.

Ending up back at Bentley's after a nice day of riding we were treated to a lobster feast for only 12 dollars and met a lot of great people to enjoy our evening with. If your ever heading up route 1 in Maine, check out Bentley's Saloon in Arundel, Maine.

Unfortunately, as with any trip, it must come to an end. We had one stop to make on our way home. To pick up Maine live lobster to make hot lobster rolls at home. After unpacking it was time to make dinner and relive our motorcycle adventure. It's so simple; I just boiled the lobster, cut it up and served in a grilled hot dog bun with clarified butter. With the shells, I make a lobster stock to use in my lobster bisque and lobster ravioli recipes. Just a few of our other favorite recipes.

Since a road trip to Maine only happens once a year, I was able to find a company that I can order Maine live lobster delivered to my door. I've also used them to send seafood to my mother in Florida. She enjoys the lobster and New England clam chowder.

Cat Symptoms You Should Be Aware Of

Owning a pet is not all just fun and games. Cats are one of the most affectionate and loyal pets around. A lot of responsibility comes with taking home a new pet. Just like humans, house pets get sick and need lots of love and attention. Having a housecat is not the same as owning a dog, a rabbit or any other household pet, each has to be taken care of in a particular way and each has its own common ailments. There are many cat symptoms that every pet owner should be aware of to keep their feline in tip-top shape.

If you ever hear your cat making a funny noise, listen carefully, because your pet may have a cough. It may sound cute, but it should be taken seriously. A cough may lead to a fever, difficulty in breathing and discharge from both the cat's eyes and nose. Anything from a collar that is too tight to asthma can cause a cat to cough. If the cough seems minor, it is okay to give it treatment at home. However, if your cat is having trouble breathing, is wheezing, has a loss of appetite and is visibly losing weight, a veterinarian should be consulted immediately. Coughs can be a sign of the following cat symptoms, heartworms, bronchitis and asthma.

Many say that cats are picky eaters. Being a choosy eater and being anorexic are two completely different things. When a pet refuses to chow down on its pet food it is usually a cause for concern, but more so when it comes to felines. Cats that do not eat can potentially cause liver damage. Some cat symptoms that can be a factor to loss of appetite are illness, new surroundings and recent vaccinations. Anytime that your cat completely refuses to eat should be a red flag. There are a few stimulants you can give to your cat to encourage it to eat but it is always best to consult a veterinarian beforehand.

Cats are not known for their minty fresh breath. However, their breath should have a tolerable aroma. If your cat seems to have bad breath or halitosis there could be a concealed medical condition. A lot of the times the bad breath may be triggered by plaque or gum disease but in some cases even a cats diet can affect the way their breath smells. However, if the odor becomes extremely foul smelling, it could be the indication of more serious health problems like problems in the mouth area, respiratory system and liver. By visiting the veterinarian, proper treatment can be given to your cat and any further concerns you have can be addressed.

Many assume that giving the veterinarian a call should be reserved for emergencies. The fact of the matter is, when you are dealing with a pet that obviously cannot tell you how it feels, it is always a good idea to be aware of the possible symptoms and signs of illnesses. Whenever you are in doubt, call the veterinarian. Never risk the health of your beloved pet.

5 Useful Tips to Minimize Your Cat's Scratching Habit

Something that cats love to do the most is scratching! When they go out, they scratch wooden poles, fences, trees and when they are indoors, they love to scratch carpet, sofa, wallpapers, curtains etc. It is because of these habits of cats, many of the pet owners who are already frustrated of seeing scratches all over their furniture and decor items, are considering declawing their kitties.

Removing Those Dangerous Claws!

It is important to know that removals of claws is an extremely procedure for cats; not to mention an unfair one. It is their nature to scratch and for your convenience, you should not really try to change them. These kinds of procedures not only cause physical but also psychological trauma to the cats.

Why Do Cats Scratch A Lot?

In order to find a solution for this problem, you should first try to understand why your kitty likes scratching so much. People believe that by scratching, the cats sharpen and clean their claws. And, that's not entirely true; it is also one of their ways of marking territories or leaving marks on surfaces.

Besides marking her own territory, sharpening and cleaning her claws, for cats scratching is also a great physical exercise. It normally includes climbing, balancing and stretching. These activities are very important for a health survival of cats. That is why it is not a good to declaw your or punish her every time she scratches.

Give Them Scratching Posts

A better option would be to purchase a scratching post and teach her about how to use it. It will take a few days, but gradually your would realize that playing and scratching with the posts is more fun than ruining your decor or home furniture. You should try different kinds of tricks to draw your cat's attention to these posts.

As a owner, you should know that cats enjoy playing so consider buying a post with dangling toys; toys would be even better. If the post doesn't come with such attachments, consider adding a couple of them yourself.

This way, the will quickly understand the perks of fooling around near the scratching post. Make sure that the post you've purchased is big enough and sturdy. Cats do not enjoy scratching things that are not stable as they don't help them in proper scratching.

Try Other Furniture like Scratching Tree or Just a Condo

Besides the normal posts, you can also purchase other furniture items like inclined scratchers, condos, gyms, trees etc. These items can be easily purchased online or at some local pet furniture store. They will give hours of fun and entertainment to your beloved kitty. Such furniture come with a number of features like perches, sisal poles, comfortable beds, toys, and many other attractive features.

Before You Buy!

Remember that cats are very tidy animals and hate being around dirty things, leave alone playing with them. So make sure the post or other furniture are regularly cleaned and well maintained.

Petar Petrov owns an online retail shop of furniture for different needs of cats. Are Cats Smart or Dumb?

Love them or hate them cats are just hard to ignore. I love cats, but I have often wondered about just how smart they really are? For that reason I've collected a few videos of cats and their reactions to things! So you be the judge and tell me what you think!

Over the years, I've read, or heard so many different things about whether our friends are smart or clever and now I have a few words for you folks. Probably most of would say that cats are not smart because unlike dogs they aren't obedient, won't do tricks, and won't come when they are called. But, that's not a reason to call them stupid, as cats only do things when they want.

Yep, that's the thing with cats! They seems to do what they want and when they want. So if we love them enough and treat them right, maybe then they will be more willing to cooperate with us.

Anyway here are some videos of cats doing "clever things" and not so "clever things".

Meet the white cat that goes nuts after seeing its reflection in the mirror! This kitty is so popular at the moment that over the last few days it got more than 500,000 views on the Internet! It appears to me as if the angry white kitty has an imaginary conversation with his white, fluffy foe. And judging by the sounds it seems like they are having a pretty tense conversation.

Anyway, it would be better for you to avoid any contact with the white crazy cat as one can only imagine what would happen if the cat gets mad at you! Yep, it's that serious! Or this kitty here. Now, this is a way funnier situation! This cat gets totally confused after a dog shows up on the screen while his owner plays the video game 'Assassin's Creed' 3.

At first the cat seems so calm and peaceful while its owner is playing Assassin's Creed, but that comes to end as soon as it sees dogs on the screen! It flips out and starts searching the dogs behind the TV screen, because they show up and then they walk off the screen! But unfortunately for the cat, there are no dogs to be found behind the big TV screen! And that goes on and on.

Nonetheless, just like people, some cats are clever, some are not!
